Mount Rushmore, Keystone, S.D., Oct. 10, 2012: Sculpted by Danish-American Gutzon Borglum and his son, the 60 foot sculptures of the heads of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln span 1,278.45 acres. The monument, located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, is visited by around three million people each year. Although it is a very touristy spot, it was neat to see such an iconic sculpture in person. The amount of detail on the faces of the presidents was definitely impressive. To think that someone carved them so precisely on such a large scale is pretty insane.
